As many of us get to the stage where another milestone birthday is looming, there are a lot of things that can come to mind. Infact it is the lead up that can feel mildly uncomfortable than the actual moment itself. I think there are two types of people. The celebrators and the cringe ‘not another birthday-im not doing anything’ people. Depending on the kind of person you are and where you are at in your life you fall into one of these. I am proud to say i fall in option A. The celebrator. After all what is there NOT to celebrate. Life in general should be a celebration. Not the focus on the number and the possible ‘lack’ that you think is in your life. Its all in the mindset. When you are grateful and happy within yourself, you not only attract positive things but you are open to more possibilities. When you focus on the number and the thinking that you are getting ‘old’ then you not only think it but you begin to feel it. Who wants to feel that? Why would you focus on what you don’t have when there is so much you do have and can have. Why set limitations. The 30’s for many are the years where you have a lot of the ups and your downs. Relationships begin and end. Some of it very painful. You are building up financially perhaps or taking some needed vacation time. Some have children. Some buy their first home. Some are flourishing in their careers. Some start relationships. Some are starting a fresh slate in all areas of their life. Some are still seeking that ultimate quest in finding the love of their lives. Then there are some really great realizations. As you begin to tie up loose ends and get ready to start a fresh decade and a fresh page something fascinating happens. You begin to not sweat the small things. You begin to embrace you. The you that you know and love. The 30’s have tested you and now you feel like you have won. You feel more in control, not caring what people think of you or if something doesn’t feel right you walk away. You can say yes or you can say no. You don’t really have to please anyone. Maybe turning a new milestone ain’t so bad. Maybe its exactly what you need at this stage of your life. You focus on you and evolving into to woman you want to be not what others want you to be. If a guy cant man up then its his loss. You know what you deserve and wont accept anything less than amazing. For turning 40 should be just that. Amazing.
