Taking a bet at the race track is like taking a bet at dating. You study the guide, look at the odds and take a chance. Hoping that you have backed a winner and you go home either with some money ( when your horse wins) or in dating, with maybe the second date locked in ( or at least a call the next day). There is always that element of the unknown. You take a bet and hope for the best. No matter how much you study the guide or see how much the favorite pays its really left up to chance in the last minute. Some horses win by a nose. So in dating, how do you know if you have backed a winner? Maybe the only thing you can do is back yourself and know you can always try again. Never giving up. Sometimes you win by default or when you least expected. Everyone loves it when the one that you never thought would win does. Maybe dating is the same. The one you wouldn’t think would float your boat does. He was the odd favorite. Some dates get scratched, some don’t have the stamina to run the race. Or some just give up without really trying. They are obviously not in the same race you are and not worth the bet. No matter what always back yourself and know you are worth the race. In life we gamble all the time. With our everyday dealings, with our career opportunities and most importantly with love. Its in us to try and give it a go. Even though deep down we know the odds and, in casino terms, the house always wins. Why gamble? Because you just never know what that will bring you. Life is about risk. If you don’t risk you don’t know. Where’s the fun in not trying.
